Confused with various sites giving details about a number of home alarm systems? Here is an accurate guide on the various types of alarm systems. Home alarms can be categorized into 2 main categories - indoor and outdoor - depending on the conditions. Each of them have the following sub-categories:
Indoor home alarm systems
1. Infrared alarm system: Infrared home alarm systems detect the presence of an intruder by analyzing the heat changes due to the presence of a body.
2. Ultrasonic alarm system: These alarm systems produces ultrasonic sound waves, which are inaudible to humans. Due to motion or presence of a body, there is a change in frequency alarm that can detect the change and thus the presence of an intruder.
3. Microwave alarm system: This alarm system emits microwaves. A detector present in these systems, detect any deflection in the waves, which suggest some movement.
4. Photo-electric beam alarm system: this system works by spreading visible or infrared beams of light across the area and any obstruction of these beams suggests the presence of an intruder.
5. Glass break alarm system: As the name suggests, in this kind of an alarm system, the braking of glass produces sound that is audible to the human ear, helping in the detection of the presence of an intruder.
Outdoor home alarm systems
1. Vibration sensor alarm system: These alarm systems are mounted on the outer structure like the fence of the building. When someone tries to trespass, the vibrations caused are detected by the sensitive circuit of the system and the alarm goes off.
2. Passive magnetic field detecting alarm system: these alarm systems are buried in the ground and create a magnetic field in the surrounding area. Whenever someone tries to trespass, an anomaly is created in the field that can be detected by the system.
3. E-field alarm system: this alarm is set along the outer most boundary of the building and is able to detect the mass and the movement of the intrusion.
4. Microwave barrier alarm system: this system is pretty much the same as an indoor microwave alarm system with the difference being that when it detects something, it analyses it further and then creates an alarm.
5. Microphonic alarm system: these alarms can be buried in the ground or attached to the fence as cables. These alarms detect vibrations and notify if there is any unusual activity.
6. Taut wire fence alarm system: in this type of an alarm system, independent wires are put along the fence or the outer wall and can detect if there is trespassing. The frequency of these systems can adjusted according to the need.
7. Fibre optic cable alarm system: this system works on the simple principle of emitting and receiving light. If the light received is different than the light emitted, it proves a possible intrusion that is it serves as the indicator for making you attentive about the same.
8. H-field alarm system: this type of home alarm system can be buried into the ground. It emits continuous radio frequency and any difference in the emission and receiving of the frequency indicates the presence of an intruder.
